in order to protect the nation against further terrorist threats, Indonesian immigration plans to strengthen its security through database sharing and request the authorities to deny entry to foreign suspects.

An immigration officer suggested that the government understands the sharing of databases between state agencies in their anti-terrorism laws to further secure the borders of the nation.

insist that Indonesia needs an integrated system of border protection, Ronny Sompie, Law and Human Rights Department Director General of Immigration, said that data sharing between agencies - Immigration , customs and excise, quarantine and intelligence agencies and the fight against terrorism - could contribute to immigration to take preventive measures before allowing poor people to enter the country.

"If the records are shared by the Immigration and Customs and Excise, when we receive information of the anti-terrorist bodies or intelligence, it will be easier for [immigration] to take early action before that we give a case to the competent investigators, "said Sompie as reported by the Jakarta post.

In addition, Sompie said the immigration office would have the authority to deny entry to foreign suspects, even if they have yet to be presented on the list black.

Referring to the 2003 draft revision of terrorism legislation, currently under review, Sompie called to the House of Representatives, or better known as Dewan Rakyat Perwakilan (CMA), to consider including articles necessary to grant this permission to the security monitoring organizations across all borders; airports, ports and other control stations of the territory.
